After months of cruising the KBBB I finally saw your deck fittings you custom made out of oak. They are truely a work of art. What a nice low profile. My Guillemot Double is 1-2 days away from varnish and here is my delima. I've elected to forgo deck lines. Partly because I may not do much "touring" versus more day trips with my wife and may not need all the extra deck space for accessories. Secondly I installed bulkhead hatches front, middle and back for access to storage when necessary. Thirdly, my heron veneer design (you might of seen it on prior picture posts) will have deck lines covering much of the design between the cockpits. (Weak excuse I know!)

Before I varnish and regret not having any deck lines and have to install them later and sanding off the varnish, what other uses am I overlooking the need for these deck lines for day use? Water reentry? Map holding? Paddle rests?

Any one out there please share your thoughts. Thanks...
