I am paddling My West River and have started cutting panels for my merganser, but I seem to be looking for the next boat already! This time I would like to try strip building and sould like an open double. I have just recieved my copy of Nick's book and like the sound of the double.

Does making the cockpit long and open require strengthening of the hull (more glass)? Has anyone already been down this path?

Plenty of time to play with the idea while I build the merganser. Makes for some interesting day dreaming.
