Strip: Spring Run Fiberglassed *Pic*

Allow me to share the photos below of my Redfish Spring Run project, where I just wet-out fiberglass on the deck.

The wood along the shear and cockpit recess is western red cedar. The wood down the center of the deck is, well, that's western red cedar too, I think. It was a very light colored board in the stack of 2x6 12' long decking lumber at Home Depot, and I figure it's sapwood but could be some other cedar that got mixed in at the mill. The dark trim is peruvian walnut. The insects embedded in the epoxy are another custom accent.

Temperatures are in the low-to-mid 90's in the evenings here in Dallas when I work on the boat, and the only way to get enough working time the epoxy is to get it out of the cup immediately. As soon as it's mixed, I pour the entire contents onto the boat and spread it to prevent heat build-up. I also store the epoxy in the house, where it's a little cooler.

Thanks everyone for all the great tips on the message board.

John
