I don't think it's worth the effort to lay down multiple layers of cloth that requires feathering for wear strips,,just put something thick there. Before or after glassing the hull consider making a little flat shelf at the high wear area of the ends down by the waterline. It appears to be about 8" long. Either get some dynel cord soaked in cabosil thickened epoxy then tape it down or pull threads of s-glass off the cloth,,make a thick bundle about a foot long and 1/4" thick,,wet with same thickened goop then squeeze excess off,,you can lay the wet cord of s-glass right on the wear area and smooth it into place as it cures. Requires a lot less fairing and can be made smooth.
