Mark,

The Guillemot is an extremely loose tracking kayak. My first few times in one left me wondering about it. Chances are that the kayak is symetrical enough. The problem is probably that you last paddled on the right side, or your right side is stronger. The Guillemot is very sensitive to that. You could add a skeg or you could paddle it as is and develop an efficient even stroke. Without a skeg the Guillemot will help make you a better paddler. However, the Guillemot is not for everyone. In Nick's book, it is called an advanced kayak, in part because of it's loose tracking. People that have come from a whitewater background love the kayak, but if you have only paddled stiff tracking kayaks, the Guillemot may shock you with it's responsiveness.

: I'm prety sure I need a skeg. I get it going straight and stop paddling and
: the boat will start to drift a little to the left. The longer I let it go
: the sharper the drift. After that I changed direction (180 degrees) and
: the boat does the same thing. If anyone else has added a skeg and has
: pictures I would appreciate the opportunity to see them. Thanks for all
: the help.

: Mark

You might add a fixed skeg, or shift your weight
