Strip: Coaming Height above the Deck

Hi all, I've been quietly reading and learning this site while building my Endeavour over the past 9 months. I'm adding the coaming lip to the cockpit at the moment and wonder what the proper clearance from the deck to the bottom of the lip. Ted's book recommends 6 layers of 1/8" would (3/4"). I couldn't find a specific height in Nick's book. I've mocked up a 3/4" height and it looks a bit too high. 1/2" looks right but and the cords for the spray skirts seem to fit without much trouble. Still, I don't want to build the wrong thing just be cause it looks right.
Any one have a recommendation?

Regards,
Shawn
