S&G: Spreading the Hull

I set the deck of my Cirrus on the hull last night and found a misalignment. This problem is centred around the rear hatch where the hull is ~1/2" narrower than the deck.

I installed some spreaders last night in the hull. I ran a search on the BB regarding spreaders and found that a number of people accept the fact that the hull may compress inwards after glassing and that they trim the deck accordingly.

Will spreaders have any effect on well cured glass and epoxy after say a week? If I tape now with the spreaders in I am concerned that the tension on the hull will eventually separate it from the deck.

Some ideas would be appreciated.
