Skin-on-Frame: PVC Wrinkles and fixes- Sea Pup kidyaks *Pic*

Two of the four Sea Pups we're building will probably launch this weekend. We were getting sort of discouraged with the PVC, but after learning a bit more, we're glad we're using it. It has extremely little stretch, so wrinkles are inevitable, but it also glues and patches very easily, so the wrinkles can be slit and patched with a decorative cover piece. I think the one kayak that has no skin yet will be done a different way than the first three. We'll try to do the entire bottom and sides with one piece. The actual bottom can be done with no wrinkles, but the sides will wrinkle a lot. We'll gather the wrinkles every foot or so, and slit and patch them. I'll take and post some pics when we get to that point. These kayaks look so petite sitting on the grass, but when Calder, my small ten year old, holds his up, it looks LONG! They're turning into beautiful little boats! Thanks again to Tom Yost for the design, advice, and all the help with the pics. Steve
