Not sure I like the sound of "informant" RR but it would do you well to read a bunch of the archive postings, get your hands on Nick's book about strip building and generally hang out till you get the drift of things on the list.

There are some cool folks here who know a ton about building fine wooden canoes and kayaks. Some of us have peculiar specialties within the greater context such as: skin on frame boats, sailing rigs, tool smarties, composite geeks and dumpster diving bargain hunters.
