Hi Kurt, I have the CLC 17' and, for someone like you and I who are fit and agile, it leaves something to be desired. It has good speed but it's so beamy and with so much volume and so much initial stability that many of the leans and braces are difficult or impossible. I don't have great balance and am not especially daring but I've felt perfectly comfortable in SOFs with a 19" beam. Why not build a SOF? The ones I've been in are fun boats to paddle: a skinny Putz Walrus and a skinny Morris among others.

Good luck to you,
Chip
