I haven't tried building one, but I did test paddle Dick's 3-piece Arctic Tern and didn't even realize it was a take-apart until I landed. I thought it was a great boat and a great idea.

The strip building process would give you an easy way to make a boat like that. Seems like you could build some 2-piece deck forms that would become the take-apart bulkheads and then use them along with the regular forms to strip the boat.

You could do all the hard work about how to make the two bulkheads watertight and fit together before the boat is stripped. Leave some space between them for a thin sawblade, then rather than taking them out with the regular forms, you would leave them in and then cut the hull strips between those special forms.

It might require some modifications to how you attach the forms/bulkheads to your strongback, and seems like it would be easy with an external strongback.

You might even want to glue the strips to those forms/bulkheads on one half of the boat (probably the deck), to help keep them in place. You could mark the area to cut easily while striping, and then just saw the boat apart after the external fibreglassing was done.

Seems like it might be much easier than doing it to a stich-n-glue.
