: Robert,

: Nice accoutrements in the cockpit. Tell us about the "foam". Is the
: seat home made? The fancy lines on the top of the seat make it look like a
: commercially made seat. I like those lower thigh braces. Need to know the
: type of foam and where you got it. I will be trying to do the same thing
: to my Coho soon.

: Thanks,

Steve ... Thanks, the seat and backband came from Newfound Woodworks and I carved the underthigh supports myself. I got the foam from NRS. It's 3"x24"x12" block of minicell foam (see attached link). I cut the foam in half to create two blocks 3"x12"x12" then cut each block on a taper 1/2" to 3" then took the left over wedge and turned it around and laminated them together with spray adhesive to make a wedge approx. 1/2'x 5-1/2". Then take your Surefoam scraper and shape the concave are to fit you legs. I also had to fit it to the bottom of the boat. It only took about 1-1/2 hours to make both, very simple to do and best of all it only cost about $14.00 with shipping from NRS. The cockpit fits me snuggly and is extremely comfortable. These under thigh supports were probably the best addition to the cockpit. It's amazing how much a well fit cockpit makes. No back ache or the back side of my legs used to get sore. Today I paddled vigorusly for several hours without any soreness (well at least for now).

Take care...Robert
