S&G: Sealing Sanded Fiberglass *LINK*

Hi all,

When I taped the inside deck/hull shear joint with fiberglass tape on my S&G, one side has a raised edge. I think this is due to a selvage sewn into the edge of the tape to prevent the tape from unraveling. Anyway it is bumpy and sharp. I am trying now to sand it down a bit so it is smoother inside the kayak.

My question is whether I must recoat with epoxy the areas where I have sanded down into the glass (at the edge of the tape). With the glass edges exposed will it absorb moisture? The glass I have sanded into is fully saturated with epoxy so I would think it is still encapsulated, but I don't know for sure.

Thanks,

Steve Pituch
