And so did a 2 friends and I believe Nick did one also. I has held up great.

I may do another SOF this winter. I would use epoxy for the bottom only. And Polyurathane varnish for the rest of the boat. When I built mine 4 years ago, there wasn't as much information about just using varnish successfully as there is now. It seems to work well, it's cheap and readly available.

But for the bottom, the epoxy is great for abrasion resistance. It stays flexable, kind of like thin cardboard. I tinted mine.
