Strip: Boxbeam Strongback

Hi All,

I am currently building a "Prospector" strip canoe. The strongback is an external boxbeam that the station molds are mounted to.(on top of the strongback, as in construction of the "Endeavour" kayak) My next project will be a "Cape Ann" kayak that uses an internal strongback. The canoe strongback for my Prospector canoe is absolutely as near perfect as I could construct it. I included a steel boxbeam internally to help it remain true. (I intend to build alot of boats with it!!)

Has anyone constructed a kayak based on an internal strongback such as a "Cape Ann" or "Guillimot" on a external strongback such as "Endeavour"? If so, what were the problems or advantages in using an external strongback? I would like to use the canoe strongback in the construction of my Cape Ann!!!
