S&G: Building a SG Night Heron (day 10)

Team

Once again Dave and I did take upmthe challenge of building a Night Heron SG in 10 days. Well, we didn't do it...but, we did do this today:

Planed the rolling bevels on most of the panels and wired the bottom toe panels togther. We're such detail freaks that we filed and shaved the panel fit till we had a perfect seam. Wired the panels tight using steel 24 gauge wire and then fiddled and adjusted tensions till we had it right, then wrestled the bottom down. We figured out a way to wire the interior temp forms under tension to force the hull to the designed shape, then finally after hours of work, poured a thin line of thickened epoxy into the "groove" and built a reinforced bow and stern hollow. Sitting back looking at the shape was nice. It's slow and easy at this stage, doing a perfect job of it while piecing the panels together. Tomorrow it'll be the upper hull panels and start on the deck. We're flying along at it!
