i also have lots of areas that the stain is scraped off with blades, scrapers etc., then just last nite tried out the files and got better, but still not perfect results at first - practice helped, got way better after a while.

for the previous areas that are scraped cleanish, i'll just laydown some more stain and see what happens. add layers to check value, hopefully no or minimal epoxy rings. maybe rough sand or thin wire brush (fading into sealed area)in grain direction to give tooth. then reseal. have contemplated adding the dye to the resin - will prob try a small batch of that too. i know for me this will not be perfect, but there are lots(millions) of other imperfect aspects abt my yaks also, so no big deal in the scheme of things.
