That sounds pretty much like the method described in the Shooting Star instructions and I'm leaning toward doing it that way. It looks like you did a beautiful job. Did you bevel or use bead and cove?

What kind of wood did you use for your bow pieces? Maple? And what did you use for the deck?

And what function do those sticks serve that are sticking up in the middle? Just spacers?
