Strip: sheer seam questions. When do you give up?

I am now joining the deck and hull and have sanded and beveled the sheer seam several times.

there were a few drips and sags in the edge of the epoxy.

there are also some loose areas of glass that are sanded off and will be covered by the seam tape.

i have a good tight fit but there are a few 1/16" gaps here and there. it seems like fixing one causes another.

When do you give up?

can i fill the gaps with smutz before taping on the inside, or do i do it after from the outside? or both?

how big should the bevel be on the inside, I think more bevel will be better bonding. is that correct. 20 degrees or 45?
