I've been 'researching' different construction methods (S/G, Stripper, SOF) an boats, with the intent of building yak(s) for my daughters - but being landlocked, with no easy access to 'demo days', it's just an act of faith, choosing what to build. That said - I've noticed there aren't a lot of boats designed specifically with the fairer sex in mind; Nicks boats are really intriguing, but... not really directed at the 120 - 140 pound day paddler wt. range I'm looking for. Tom Yosts' boats would be a good option; I've also liked Duanes smallest Point Bennett. Others I've found that look interesting -One Oceans' Storm LT or Expedition sport; Redfish Silver; and of course, the Shooting Star (!). I wonder a bit about Nicks Petrel, haven't read too much about it - I know it's a play boat, made for surfing etc., maybe not for paddling big rivers/ lakes (but I'm not so sure).

So.... there's an awful lot of experience on this board. Help a poor plainsman out on this would ya?
