: The talk about TiteBond got me to thinking and I didn't want to high-jack
: that thread. I recently bought a bottle of TiteBond Hyde glue for a
: project I was working on. It has a 1 hour clamp time per the instructions.
: Just wondering since it going to be epoxied over anyway, if it might be
: useful in strip construction due to the fast(er) setup up? Anyone tried
: it?
Hello Kudzu,
I have worked for years with hide glue, both the liquid type and the hot animal glue. It is wonderful glue and there is nothing better for pepairing old veneer, but it would be the worst possible glue for strip-building. It is waaaay too moisture sensitive and can crystalize with age. Modern glues are far superior to hide glue.
