That looks like a simple solution.
Often there are a number of ways to solve a problem.
I usually find that the one I settle on is the one that can be done with the materials and the tools that I have on hand.
I had plenty of bits of strips but no ply, so I have used one of Rod Tait's methods. It is much more time consuming than your idea, but I have plenty of time on my hands.
Thanks for the ideas. I might use them next time.
