I like the print effects, very retro. Maybe the cotton would be OK? My own experience is that polyester fabrics don't bond with expoxy at all so I wouldn't put them under the glass cloth, like you would a tissue paper tattoo or transfer.

In the sailing world they use polyester lining material to pick up the excess resin by smoothing it on top of an epoxy/glass cloth glassed part. Excess epoxy seeps through the polyester. Then it's ripped it off once the epoxy has cured, removing the excess resin and giving a smoothish finish. I made a 1 metre long centreboard for a sailing dinghy this way, after being told of the technique by our local sail makers. It was very easy but the technique doesn't work on 3D curves at all.
