Northern White Cedar

For us in the Northeast US, there's no better wood for strip building than NWC (Atlantic Cedar is better but it's almost extinct.). Compared to Western Redcedar it's lighter in weight, bends so easily it's not even funny, and it's a locally harvested wood. It can be bit tough to find and it will be hard getting your hands on long, clear pieces. My stock is from 7 to 9 feet in length with not a knot in sight. It's all I'm using for the cores of my painted boats and most of my bright finished ones.
