The paddle is very close to what is in my book. When I wrote the book I was leaving a rib down the center of the power face. I no longer bother. The rib does make it stronger, but it is harder to make, and makes the blade less efficient at sculling type strokes. A layer of 2 oz glass on both faces of the blade provides enough strength with very little weight. The blade is the same shape as in the book although I scaled it down a little bit.
