Happens to us all at one time or another, Jeff. You've got the gist of the repair. Yup, kinda hard to refill the weave after the epoxy has cured. ;)

One hint: sand off only the bad glass and try not too hit the wood below. If you do the new epoxy might not soak into the wood the same and you might end up with a blotchy spot.
