: A few years ago my parents bought an Old Town Loon 16 a double. They thought
: it would be great for them and their 110 lb lab/shepherd, Benny. He,
: naturally, had his own PFD, in red to match. They took him on a grand
: total of two (2) trips... He wouldn't sit still and kept wanting to jump
: out and swim. Hope your pup is better behaved.

: They WERE quite the sight on the water!!

Thanks for all the responces. This past weekend we did a three day, 64 mile trip on the Arkansas river here in Kansas and Lucky (the dog) only fell out of the canoe once. But he did keep us on our toes (actually, on our knees) with his moving around. I think an open kayak or double paddle canoe will be the way to go if I want to solo paddle with him. It would keep the CG lower than in a normal canoe and if I make the seat location adjustable I can paddle with or without him.
