: Hi Et,

: This sail must be a 10-year-old one, as it doesn't look anything like the
: beauties in your picture. I don't have it yet but it comes with two
: battens and it's advertised as in good shape with a small hole in it.
: That's probably why I got it so cheap. I looked all over the web trying to
: find this sail on a sailboard to see what it looked like when hoisted but
: never found a picture.

: I printed out all your information since understanding how a sailboard sail
: works is all-new to me.

: Thanks a lot,
: John

Hi John

A picture paints it does it not. That sail will be no problem what so ever. You should have got it for five dollars, but it is going to be a much easier proposition for your purposes.

I was a little concerned for you. A modern sail is a small handful of dinamite. Very controlable in the hands, but nice to be able to ditch in a crisis.

The downhaul tention mentioned previously is not an issue with the sail pictured either.

Clamp on booms will not rotate 90 degrees up the mast like an old rope on one will. If y ou want to furl that way. Newer booms may be too short in any case as you may note from the picture.

I don't use my little trimiran nearly as much as I should. Paddling and windsurfing have quicker set-up times and so are easier options, but aint these experiments fun???

Et

PS mostly I sit on my tri. Standing is only for very light airs.
