: First, what do you all think about the high deck vs. regular models? I'm
: 180 lbs, 6'2", size 13 shoe.

I would say it may depend on your footware preferences. If you are going barefoot or using neoprene booties the low deck is probably fine. If you are going to be using shoes (I like the TEVA all terrain) then the extra height is a blessing.

: Second big question is, what do I need to build the boat with? Are there any
: tables that list how much plywood, glass, epoxy, and strips I'll need?

The plans should give you a list of necessary items.

: I called CLC, and though it's not listed on their website, they'll sell just
: the forms for $109; in your opinion is this a good idea for the first time
: boat builder? Unless I hear differently, I'll probably purchase them.

If you follow the plans carefully you should be fine without any kit aids. If there are a lot of forms though $109 may be quite a good bargain to speed you on your way.

Once the plans arrive you need to go over them a couple of times to visualise the process before starting. Then sleep on it. Anything that is confusing should become clear as you go along and things fall into the perspective of their stages. Care taken in the early stages to measure correctly and cut accurately will pay big dividends down the line. With these projects thought and adequate preperation at every stage take a good proportion of the the time. For your first build it is worth taking that time and enjoying every stage. (That is me pontificating).

: This should be an awesome build!

Take Lots of photos as you go along. We will all want to see your progress.

I would like to see pics on this forum.
