: Actually Etienne, that is EXACTLY what he intends to do, and it is how Mark
: Rogers (The Hawk designer) advocates building his Arctic Hawks in the 450
: page instructional manual. You flat glass almost all the panels and pieces
: before stitching them together, then put them together and apply the fill
: coats of epoxy. I know it's a bit abnormal, but it actually works quite
: well and gives a great finish. Also reduces the amount of bubbles etc. On
: 6mm or stiffer it might prove to inhibit bending, but on 3mm and 4mm it
: really doesn't keep it from getting bent to the intended shape. Another
: benefit is that it protects the wood right away, reducing the chances of
: wood dings, sanding through the plys, etc. Not that I have ever committed
: such sins, oh...well...maybe just a few times. :)

Well you live and learn. Going on the stiffness of my stripped hatches I would have thought that the same would occour with ply. I have built ply boats but never pre glassed them. If I recall' the actic hawk is a single chine boat. I guess the curves must not be too radical.
