Thanks. It's a bit heavy and doesn't bend well at all. As usual the pictures don't do it justice. It really shimmers in full sun.

As for the seam I think just about any wood glue would have caused it. A glue that dried a lighter color may have helped. Maple, being such a hard wood, requires tight tolerances if you don't want a line. This is the first time I've had an issue with a glue line. We generally use softwoods for our kayak stripping. That helps.

If you're still really worried about glue lines try stripping a sample panel. Strip a small portion of the boat, like 12-18" worth of the deck, with some TB II and different woods, sand it smooth and then brush on some varnish or epoxy. You can even try different glues and see if there are any differences.
