: I just bought an old - 60 years according to the previous (but not original)
: owner - wood and canvas kayak. It's sort of a Rob Roy type, about 13 feet
: long by 30 inches wide. I took it out on a pond today and it paddles
: surprisingly well. The seller said it "seeps" water and that's
: about right. It took on about a quart in half an hour, seemingly along the
: keel line. I'm hoping the link to the pictures will work. Does anyone
: recognize the design as anything standard? How would you approach trying
: to seal it up better? I only paid $25 so not much of an investment yet!
: Thanks in advance.

How about keeping it as original as you can? You didn't say what you want to use it for - you could just paint or varnish it up and use it. If it leaks a little and you're not trying to cross Lake Superior you'll be fine.

Think of it like an antique car - "survivors" and "rat rods" are cool. They look their age and still work. Maybe a little maintenance instead of a "restoration" that removes most of the original character.
