After reading about this last week I put it to the test this weekend. It worked great, not a drop of water in the cockpit despite driving through a major storm with winds, downpour rain and some hail. As Mick suggested, I wrapped the tube part of the spray skirt closed with bungee cord. I also tied the grab loop with a short piece of rope to secure it to the boat (tied to a cheek plate) if it came loose on the highway. I then put the cover on upside down. Since my roof racks are close together, the webbing straps go around the cockpit and over the ends of the coaming, further securing the cover in place.
