My buddy and I built a pair of Seguins in 1996 from blueprints we bought through Rob Bryan. They're great kayaks, but I have to admit I've since advised inquirers to consider buying a S&G kit. We both still love our Seguins. The retractable skeg works great. We took the boats on an 11 day paddling/camping trip starting from Bella Bella, B.C., and it was incredible. We had a heck of a time stuffing all our gear into the boats, but we managed. Ten days without seeing another boat or person, ya gotta love it. I'm planning to build a wood framed Yost Sea Rider to be my #1 paddler when I can find the time. The Seguin is fairly light, but you can't beat a SOF for weight.
If you build it, you'll love it.
Cheers, Steve
