: Dan, you've been a bigger help to me than you know. I have regularly checked
: your building pages on the westcoastpaddlers website. Your photos and
: narrative have filled in the gaps of Pygmy's instructions. You've done
: such a nice job finishing your boat that I also find the photos inspiring!
Thanks Steve. It's nice to hear that the efforts that we put into the site are appreciated -- but admitedly, we just like doing it.
: Switching topics, you mentioned that you sanded through the ply of Sapele in
: one small spot. I did too - along the shear. What did you do to hide that
: spot?
I didn't do anything as it's not in a place that is obviously visible (and it's not a very big area -- less than an inch long by about 1/16th wide. One thing for sure is that when you've gone into the okoume ply, it shows up like a sore thumb. I left it as a gentle reminder for me to be more careful on the next one. ;-)
I'd suggest giving the folks at Pygmy a call about this -- you and I are probably not the only ones who have sanded through the top ply. Perhaps there's a simple fix with a colored marker or something like that -- hopefully Pygmy can shed some light on a cure. If you do happen to find a solution, perhaps you could post it here?
Dan
