Pygmy suggest cherry or mahogany stain. I was out of my favorite brown mahogany stain from the Bartley Collection (check them out for high quality reproduction furniture kits). So I used a cherry stain made by Zar. It's not the match that the mahogany stain would have been. So I fiddled with a brown marker a bit to get a better color match. Before it looked like a bright white stripe, but not it's not easily seen under glass, especially since it's at the sheer. Anyone experienced with staining should find it an easy fix. For those without furniture finishing experience, expect to put on two coats, even of different color stains to get the right match. Wet the sapele out (with water) nearby to see what color you're shooting for.
