Hi blue,
Keep the balsa for something else. It isn't strong enough in those dimension for a SoF.

If it didn't cost more than othere timbers, you got a serious bargain there. I can't even get balsa in that size here. :( Not without a mortgage.

It may seem a step back in you building timetable, but pick up something like pine or spruce instead, cedar if you want light weight.

Somewhat jealous, :)
