Yes, this insight helps quite a bit. Interestingly, Joe Greenley (Redfish kayaks where I bought my kit) called me yesterday and told me essentially the same thing. So, I plan to go with 1 layer of 6oz cloth and if lots of abuse starts to show, consider an abrasion patch later.... Should I decide to add an abrasion patch later, I'm assuming I'll need to sand off any varnish so the new cloth/epoxy will adhere.
