Hi Glen here is a shot of a strip rim I used on a stich & glue Pax. This was glued to a plywood stack that is kida standard for stich & glue. I tapered some of the strips so it would follow the conture of the combing. Then I glassed every thing with 2 layers of 4oz. I can pick up the Pax from the rim so I feel it is strong enough. This method may not work on vertical strips with out a good fillit to help bond rim and riser.

I have had good combing rims made the Guillemot way by lamanating to the vertical strips. Anther good method is to use 12 1/6 inch lamanations an inch or more formed on the riser. Dont bond to the riser and form slightly more than 1/2 the combing. Then saw this in 1/2 I then run them through my planer down to 1/4 inch. This results in 3/4 wide by 1/4 thick halves that can be joined to the riser with a cut at the center line fore and aft of the cockpit. It needs to be glassed over well. This method is from Joe Greenly at Redfish Kayaks I learned it building the Parr. good luck Clayton
