Thanks for the responses, I took another look at the study plans last night. They show a small recess for the combing and with a little guess and conjecture I'll have it.
Along the back the side of the recess follows the top chine for the deck. The rest will be a matter of scaling the measurements.
Nick didn't show a lip on top of the combing but I am going to add one for strength and durability.
