In Response To: Strip: Joining on the Sheer (Simeon)
: Is there any particular reason that the two halves of strip boats are joined
: on the sheer? Rather than separating the boat into a deck and hull, why
: not a left and right half?? (or to be proper: Port and Starboard)
: Just occurred to me, and I couldn't see any immediately obvious reason is
: all...
To me I favor a sheer joint so as to afford me the opportunity to add a heavy layer of seam tape along the "bump" edge of the vessel. To date I have yet to encounter a problem with feathering the extra thickness back into the layered glass without a detetectable seam in the finished product.
