I put the money into really good quality ply and go easy on the glass.

I am sure others may disagree, but unless the hull is multi chined and taping would effectively cover most of it anyway I just tape the corners. I epoxy saturate the ply inside and out and varnish as usual. I never bother glassing the deck. Why add the extra weight and expense if it is not necessary?

You can end up with a really light weight boat if you don't glass it. The ply is surprisingly tough too and quite easy to repair.
