: What PRACTICAL difference is there in a long boat compared to a shorter boat?
: Is there really any noticeable difference for an average paddler at
: average speeds? I understand longer water line means a higher maximum (or
: maybe potential) top speed. But if you had two identical boats other than
: one being 2' longer is there really any noticeable difference at normal
: speeds? What advatages of disadvantages do boats have?
Hi Kudsu here is a shot of 2 diffrent boats. One is a Guillemot and the longer boat is a CLC plan built Pax. The Pax is the faster boat at just under 20 ft. What I can tell with a gps is the same effort produces about the same speed at an easy pace. When the effort and speed increase the Pax is faster. the Guillemot maxes out when I do but the Pax can go much faster than I am able to. I am not strong enough to do the Pax justice. I hope someone can give a more teck responce. Oh by the way I like to paddle the Guillemot way more.
