: my first question, what tools, best type of eletric sanders
: and ect.
Block plane, never needed one. Surform plane yes.
Cheap pliers, cheap sidecutters.
Clamps – a length of PVC water pipe cut to short lengths and then split (like a “C”) Maybe 30 to 40 of them. Maybe 4 “proper” G clamps too.
A panel saw (handsaw) ~$NZ10.
Battery power drill ~$NZ20 - $30
Power jigsaw ~$NZ20
Angle grinder (~$NZ20) - I had someone stay for a few days on his way home from a year at the South Pole, a very good wood worker (cabinetmaker class). When I said an angle grinder was a very good machine I needed to apply CPR. We visited a friend who has built 3 very good strip kayaks and he mentioned an angle frinder was a very good machine - CPR again!!! You only need to threaten the wood with it and it will automatically shape itself :-) It is a bit like using a chainsaw for furniture making.
Mountains of sandpaper.
I'm quoting NZ dollars which equal just over half a US dollar.
