I didn't worry too much about how much time it was going to take. Take your time and be methodical, but not too fussy. It is woodwork after all, and a little blemish or gap is a good spot to try some artwork, even if it is just a little leaf, starfish... My first boat took a year, second 18 months, third three months, fourth 3 years and still not finished and I just started a plywood boat with three cockpits for a dog!
