In the art world these days it is 75 years after the death of the artist. It used to be 50 years. That is why museums do not like people taking photos of their masterpieces. The copyright has expired. They prefer to corner the quality repro market on their collections. Also why you can get libraries of classics printed online or for a dollar a book in the stores.
