In 1979 I wanted to build a kayak about the size of Nick's Little Auk. I took the length and width from little Auk along with my height and plugged it into a kayak design program. I put in how many stations I wanted and the distance from the bow and stern to the first station sections. Then I had three choices, flat, semi-rounded and rounded. Each choice looked like a completely different kayak with different volumes. Some said at that time I should have gotten Nick's permission. I felt bad that some thought I might be stealing from Nick. With my past experience with copyrights and a failed patient I couldn't see the connection.
