: Would it be worth building some or is it better to buy commercial ones?
: Anybody have plans? I'm building s&g and strip. Thanks.

I went the padded bulkhead route and find it to be perfect. I have bulkhead hatches, so it's also easy to adjust the footpads, since they come out with the hatch. The rather crude blocks shown here, which I made in haste one day, have proved to be perfect, and are still there three years later. It would be easy to add 1" pieces to shorten up for other paddlers, but nobody else uses my boat who's not about my size. Not shown: a piece of 1/4" blue camping pad contact-cemented between the undersides of the braces, an addition I made later and which makes for barefoot paddling heaven.
