Hi Daniel,
This is the difference between Skin on Frame and Strip-built. With Strip-built, it is much better to get the strips the same size for minimising work at a later stage. The skin (wood and fibreglass) IS the frame.
With SoF, the frame and skin are seperate, as long as the skin to frame contact is the right shape, the frame can be as "ugly" as you want.
