: I'm curious about that design -- I've never seen a cockpit so far aft of
: center. Is that a racer thing?
I don't think so. I used Cunningham's book to build by and moved the cockpit further back. Then I kept the widest point at the rear of the cockpit. I also kept the fullness in all the way back to the stern. This made a swedform hull shape. When the owner is afloat the waterline trims out at the secondary chine. The rear deck is about 2.25 inches above the water. I was talking with Corey at Skin Boat Store and he advised this will help prevent weather corking. I admit it did. When I paddled on the Mississippi river the wind was a strong head wind blowing at me at about a 45 deg. It went stright and true even when I encountered the great curent that is in the big river in the spring. The kayak is a blast to paddle.
